The Evolution of Death

This page should talk a tiny bit about the paper Intrinsic mortality governs evolvability (see publications).
In a nutshell, this paper explores the evolutionary benefits of mortal individuals or, in other words, why immortality may be disadvantageous from the evolutionary point of view.
I believe this results are counter intuitive and go very deep into some fundamental concepts in biology (I allow myself to speak so highly of my own work since it is Frank Veenstra, the main author, who is due most credit).
