But then we have all seen these wonderful pictures with HUGE Moons. Well, the trick is as simple as using a tele-lens. Imagine you are using a lens that makes the Moon look 10 times bigger, and you want to take a picture with the silhouette of a friend in front of it. If your friend is close to you, then they will not fit in the frame with so much magnification. If they are too far away, they will look too small. So they just need to be far enough for both of your picture subjects to have the perfect apparent size!
